I built my career as a freelance eyewear designer, working at a high level where precision mattered — often spending 14+ hours days refining shapes down to the smallest detail.
Then I had a baby.
Suddenly, that way of working no longer fit my life.
But more than that, I realised I missed creating objects that people truly enjoy, not just use.
Invention
A Shift in Focus
Like many couples, we had fallen into the habit of ending the day in front of a screen.
So... we swapped Netflix for board games
and something shifted.
It brought back conversation and energy that had quietly disappeared.
That moment became the starting point for The Island Society.
Our why
The brand is built around a simple idea:
* Make board games more gender inclusive
* More offline moments for families
